Hapag-Lloyd will in early June introduce a fortnightly service between the United Arab Emirates, the Indian West Coast and Mozambique.
Marketed as ‘Maputo Express’ (‘MAX’), the new loop will be offered through slots on vessels of Unifeeder Group.
Unifeeder's intra-Asia affiliate Feedertech launched this new service earlier this month and Hapag-Lloyd is scheduled to start slotting as of 1 June.
The German operator will not be the first third-party carrier to co-load on Feedertech’s Mozambique service since Ocean Network Express (ONE) already started to participate a few weeks ago.
Feedertech is a majority-controlled affiliate of Unifeeder, which is in turn owned by the global ports and logistics multi DP World.
The carrier currently deploys two 1,417 teu sister ships, the OCEANA and ORNELLA, on the Mozambique service. The loop turns in 28 days, calling Jebel Ali, Mundra, Maputo, Jebel Ali.
