Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) has delivered the world’s largest container ship MSC Gulsun to Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC).
MSC Gulsun is capable of carrying up to 23,756 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) a time.
The 400m-long containership is 61.5m wide and 33.2m high. It is fitted with a modern smart dispensing system and exhaust gas cleaning systems.
It has been also featured Samsung Heavy’s latest technology vessel, a smart ship system that has been analyzed navigation data to suggest the most appropriate sea route according to pricing and safety measures.
MSC Gulsun has been structurally designed so that it can easily adapt to become a liquefied natural gas (LNG) ship in the future.
Container ship size records have been broken repeatedly in recent years, has been climbing above the 20,000 TEU mark for the first time in 2017.
Lastly, MSC Gulsun has been entered service as the largest container ship that has a capacity of 23,000 TEU in the world.
