Huelva port, Spanish group Enagás SA and HuelvaPort foundation announced a project for the launch of a logistics hub for the refrigeration of goods.
This innovative system, which is already used in Japan, will be made possible thanks to the use of the residual cold that is produced in the regasification process of the Enagás plant, which will be conducted through pipes to refrigeration facilities.
This tunnel, with temperatures down to -36º degrees, allows energy savings of more than 50% in energy costs, as well as a 90% saving in the carbon footprint.
The CEO of Enagás, Marcelino Oreja, stated that “this energy efficiency project based on the cold generated by the liquefied natural gas (LNG) serves as a reinforcement to the services of the Enagás Regasification Plant in the port of Huelva”.
