Administração do Porto de Aveiro (APA – Port of Aveiro Administration) has recently awarded the contract to implement the operation of the Liquid Bulk Terminal to an unnamed company.
The project will cost about €2.6 million ($3.11 million) and the deadline is six months.
The Port of Aveiro is also working on the infrastructure project for the Logistics and Industrial Activities Zone (ZALI) of the Port of Aveiro, which is co-financed by the Compete 2020 program (Programa Operacional Temático Competitividade e Internacionalização/Operational Thematic Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization)
The investment of more than €14.2 million ($17.01 million) will have funding from the EU Cohesion Fund of €6.4 million ($7.67 million).
This project plans to increase the volume of goods handled at the Port of Aveiro to 65,000 tons in 2022; private investment, with an estimated value of €25 million ($29.95 million) and the creation of 200 jobs.
In addition, it aims to generate €25 million ($29.95 million) in national exports annually and to generate significant environmental benefits through increased attractiveness of maritime and rail transport to businesses, with an increase in the use of maritime transport.
