The logistics area of Málaga, formerly known as Centro de Transportes de Mercancías (CTM), will allocate an area of 1,300 square meters of its space to house the installation of a new distribution center for DHL Express, the logistics and transport company.

According to the delegate of the Andalusian Government, José Luis Ruiz Espejo, “these new facilities represent a boost to the logistics development of Málaga and an opportunity to develop the economy and to generate employment”.

Ruiz Espejo said that “the location of this new center in the logistics area of Málaga, which is consolidating and expanding the presence of the aforementioned firm in Málaga, has been possible thanks to the collaboration of the company with the Logistics Network of Andalusia, the society promoted by the Board through Agencia Pública de Puertos de Andalucía (APPA – Public Ports of Andalusia Agency) and the Ministry of Development and Housing.

The installation in which DHL will be located has a constructed area of 1,300 m², of which 1,000 m2 will be conditioned as a warehouse and for the provision of services related to the urgent transport of goods by air, while the other 300 m² will be dedicated to offices and customer service. The plot also has an outdoor area, attached to the warehouse, of 600 m2 for loading and unloading and parking of commercial vehicles.
The new installation will generate about 45 direct and indirect new jobs, as well as a total investment amounting to more than €900,000 ($1.11 billion), of which €304,000 ($375,387) will be dedicated to the construction of the facilities and €608,000 ($750,728) will be allocated to equipment, the management of the project and the transfers of the operation, as well as the rental of the plot throughout the concession.
The concession is for five years.

The province of Málaga is connected to the DHL global network in the south of Spain through its facilities at the Seville airport, where the company recently undertook an important expansion to respond to the growth of its activity with an investment of €4.1 million ($5.06 million).
