Noatum Group, part of China's COSCO Shipping Ports Limited and the main container terminal operator of the port of Valencia, has purchased Turkish freight forwarder Komet.
Noatum Logistics has launched divisions of intermodal projects and traffic, among other services, and has opened offices of the Istanbul headquarters in Izmir, Mersin and Gaziantep.
To undertake this ambitious project the freight forwarder has doubled its workforce in Turkey, which already reaches 100 workers.
According to the executive director of Noatum Maritime, Antonio Campoy, "the full integration of our operations in Turkey and the opening of new offices, confirms our leading position in the Eastern Mediterranean and reinforces Noatum as an international player of reference in the transport market and the logistics".
Komet, founded in 1987, was seeking an international partner to carry its local experience & knowledge beyond Turkey's borders and in 2015 Komet merged with Noatum Maritime's global vision to achieve its goal to penetrate the global arena.
This strategic partnership allowed the logistics division of Noatum Maritime to expand their footprint in the Mediterranean and at the same time, reinforce Komet presence in Turkey with the support of an international organization.
